‘SEX AND THE CITY’ (2008)
In a heart-breaking situation, there is nothing better than support from your friends. Plus, seeing a bit of feminine strength and confidence on the screen will help us remember who we are and give us some encouragement.
Carrie, the film’s main character, is abandoned by her fiancé, who panics on their wedding day and does not show up at the office. Fortunately, her three best friends come to the rescue and do everything to make Carrie feel better.
‘‘I’ve been in a relationship with myself for 49 years and that’s the one I need to work on.’’
‘HOW TO GET OVER A BREAKUP’ (2018)
Apparently, there are five stages of break up. Maria Fe, the main character of this Peruvian comedy, goes through them in few months. In the meantime, she starts to write a blog about breakups and relationships, which becomes very popular. Just as Carrie from ‘Sex and the City,’ with the help of her friends, Maria moves on and starts living her own life, trying to figure out a future for herself.
Trust me, this relatable movie will make you cry and laugh, but in the end, you will have as much positive energy as few months before it all happened.
‘‘Each tear is one more step forward.’’
‘SOMEONE GREAT’ (2019)
In pursuit of a career, Jenny decides to move from New York to San Francisco, so her boyfriend of nine years breaks up with her. Again, her best friends take care of her and take her out for a wild night out. We watch them getting ready, looking for a perfect outfit, and taking drugs, and these scenes are interspersed with Jenny’s flashbacks of her past with her lover. ‘Someone great’ surprisingly doesn’t refer to men, but to the main character, who learns of her worth.
‘‘Sometimes things don’t break, they shatter. But when you let the light in, shattered glass will glitter.”
‘TRAINWRECK’ (2015)
Amy was just a kid when her father told her monogamy doesn’t exist. As an adult, she closes her heart and enjoys casual sex with a different man every night. Eventually, this eroticized Cinderella falls into the trap of love. Will she be able to change, or will she ruin it by her fear of relationships? The film is full of dirty jokes about sex, feminism, and the male crisis, so it’ll definitely make you laugh. And in my humble opinion, it’s so lovely to see the good-looking basketball player James LeBron in the role of a gentle, emotional man.
‘‘You gotta go for it. You need to focus if you want to take it to the next level.’’
‘HOW TO BE SINGLE’ (2016)
This is a comedy that follows single people, whether they’re single by choice or not. We won’t see beautiful pictures of lovers here, but only the adventures of people looking for a life or one-night partner while enjoying being single. This movie will give you a lot of positive energy, mainly thanks to the great soundtrack, which makes the viewer want to dance.
‘‘The thing about being single is you should cherish it. Because in a week or in a lifetime of being alone, one moment when you’re not tied up.’’
